David Warner roasts Renegades with hilarious troll after record meltdown

David Warner has roasted the Melbourne Renegades in a brutal pile-on following the most abysmal performance in Big Bash history.

The Melbourne Renegades have more than a few reasons to be fuming.

The Melbourne Renegades have been left a laughing stock across the cricket world after crashing to the worst defeat in the history of the Big Bash on Sunday night.

Chasing 206 for victory at Blundstone Arena, the Renegades suffered a cataclysmic collapse to be rolled for 60, the second-lowest team total in BBL history.

They were beaten by 145 runs - easily claiming the worst loss in the competition’s history, beating their own 112-run thrashing from 2015.

Cricket commentators around the globe came for the Renegades on Sunday night, led by Aussie opener David Warner.

Warner’s innocent Twitter post showed just how brutally bad the Renegades were.

“Just looked at the bottom of my screen and saw 9/43 and thought it was the time,” he wrote.

Other commentators also roasted the Renegades run chase where Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch and Jake Fraser-McGurk were the only recognised batsmen to make it to double figures.

Shaun Marsh tossed his bat away in disgust after falling for 13 from 17 balls.

From the fourth delivery of the second over, the Renegades lost all 10 wickets in the space of 54 deliveries.

Plenty were left laughing at the fact man of the match Josh Phillipe comfortably beat the Renegades on his own with a classy 95 off 57 balls in the first innings.

The Sixers batsman now has the highest score by a Sydney Sixers player as the franchise recorded its first 200+ score.

The world was much more concerned with the stink coming from the Renegades bench.

“Woeful, that’s what I’d call it,” Mark Waugh said on Fox Cricket,

“This is a performance that the Renegades would just want deleted,” Brett Lee added.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Renegades coach Michael Klinger lamented a poor tactical decision for his side’s record-breaking defeat against the Sydney Sixers on Sunday evening.

Klinger revealed the team had opted to chase the Bash Boost point after all-rounder Beau Webster was dismissed in the fifth over.

The newly-introduced innovation ensured the Renegades would gain one point from the match if they had more runs than the Sixers at the 10-over mark.

Unfortunately, instead of accelerating towards the more achievable 76-run target, the Renegades continued to lose quick wickets in a “horrible” batting performance.

“After that start, our tactics were obviously, as you would have seen, to try and get that bonus point,” Klinger told reporters after the match. “It just sort of kept getting worse after that, a bit of a trainwreck I suppose.

“The tactics were fine, and boys had a crack … it just got worse because of our execution when we tried to go for that point.

“It just didn’t work out.”
