Only two days remain in the AFL’s Trade Period and plenty of big name stars are yet to find a new home or figure out where their future lies.

Collingwood look set to be the busiest team over the final days with several big name players on the table as the club looks to deal with a dire salary cap issue.

Essendon have been a key player throughout the free agency and Trade Period and looked set to have another deal done and dusted, before a last second twist.

Dashing defender Adam Saad told the club ahead of the Trade Period he wanted out, with a move to Carlton the clear frontrunner.

The clubs began negotiations with plenty of back and forth. On Tuesday night the clubs agreed to a deal only for the Blues to pull out at the last second on Wednesday morning.

Less than an hour after the deal fell over however, the clubs renegotiated and Saad finally was off to join the Blues.

AFL media’s Riley Beveridge broke the news with the Bombers giving up Saad along with picks 48 and 78 in exchange for picks 8 and 87.

CLUB COMMITTED TO UNWATED PIES STAR

The ugliness of the Adam Treloar fallout continues to dominate the headlines, but on Wednesday it was another Pies player who reportedly had a serious suitor emerge.

Livewire forward Jaidyn Stephenson is another player the Pies are hoping to offload as they attempt to clear the books with the 21-year-old owed close to $600,000 a season.

The Age’s Michael Gleeson and Sam McClure reported Treloar had undergone a medical at the Western Bulldogs as Stephenson met with North Melbourne.

SEN’s Sam Edmund then took things a step further with the Stephenson situation when he said North Melbourne “have committed themselves to Jaidyn Stephenson”.

Stephenson remains contracted until the end of 2023 and stated he would like to return to Collingwood, but the ball now sits in his court with North open to luring him away.

The former Rising Star winner has endured a tough past two seasons after being slapped with a huge gambling suspension before being struck down with glandular fever in 2020.

For Treloar the Western Bulldogs loom as the only real option outside of Collingwood, who have shown they’re intent on moving him on.

Treloar is on a lucrative back-ended deal and the Magpies want to push him out to ease salary cap pressure. The midfielder never wanted to leave, but reportedly found himself with little choice as his relationship with the club reached breaking point.

The Bulldogs are in the middle of trade speculation themselves thanks to midfielder Josh Dunkley who advised the club he wanted to join Essendon.
