THE team of the red and the blue ... and white? Jack Watts’ new look turned heads at Melbourne training today and didn’t escape the Twitter wit of Patrick Dangerfield.

THERE’S always one.

Every year an AFL player returns to pre-season training after a break sporting a bizarre new look.

So it’s no surprise a player caught the eye with peroxide blond hair at training today. The surprise it that player is Jack Watts.

A long-time whipping boy, Watts enjoyed his best season in 2016 and clearly doesn’t mind being the centre of attention. Or he accidentally picked up a bottle of bleach instead of the shampoo in the shower this morning.

Last week Watts posted a series of photos on Instagram gatecrashing romantic getaways with Max Gawn and Lynden Dunn.

“I had fun playing footy this year, which was the main thing for me,” he told the Demons website this week.

“We’re probably encouraged to enjoy ourselves (when we play),” he said.

“That doesn’t take away from the amount of hard that we do or the discipline involved but at the same time, you’ve got to enjoy it.

“When you do enjoy it, you’ll probably get much better results which we’ve seen this year. Goody (Simon Goodwin) and Macca (Brendan McCartney) are really strong drivers of that and have been around footy long enough to know that it’s a pretty good ingredient for success.”

New teammate Michael Hibberd didn’t have an explanation for Watts’ hairdo when he was asked about it this morning.

“I have seen that — I don’t know if it’s green or blonde or what he’s done there. He must have stayed in the pool or something for too long, I’m not sure.”

When Herald Sun photographer Wayne Ludbey revealed Watts’ blond locks to the world, they caught the attention of Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield, also evidently a fan of rapper Eminem who may have inspired Watts’ new look.
