Kim Ravaillion slams Collingwood after Pies push Adam Treloar out

Kim Ravaillion has blasted Collingwood after the Pies pinned her career move as the catalyst for cutting popular star Adam Treloar loose.

Australian netball star and Adam Treloar’s fiancee Kim Ravaillion has ripped into Collingwood after the club pushed the midfielder out the door in one of the messiest AFL break-ups in recent memory.

Despite Treloar being contracted until the end of 2025, the Pies showed him the exit during the recently completed Trade Period and he will play for the Western Bulldogs next season.

Treloar was on a heavily back-ended deal that would have netted him $900,000 a season at Collingwood and the club got rid of him to ease pressure on its salary cap. He was among a host of stars including Jaidyn Stephenson and Tom Phillips shoved out as part of a “fire sale” that stunned the AFL.

In a dramatic press conference last week, Treloar confirmed part of the reason Collingwood wanted him gone was because the club didn’t think he could perform at his peak if separated from Ravaillion and the couple’s young daughter Georgie, who was born in March.

Ravaillion signed a deal to continue her professional netball career with the Queensland Firebirds in 2021 and will move to the Sunshine State with Georgie. Treloar was intent on honouring his contract with Collingwood but now won’t get that chance.

Taking to her Instagram story, Ravaillion re-posted an update from fellow pro netballer Renae Ingles, the wife of Australian basketball star Joe Ingles, who plays in America for the Utah Jazz.

Renae uploaded a critical tweet from Joe in response to a story about Collingwood and Treloar, in which he said: “The @utahjazz organisation can help them (Collingwood) figure out how to support two professional athletes in a relationship. We had nothing but ultimate support from both the Jazz & @MelbourneVixens/@AdelaideTBirds!!

“Oh yeh, this was in different countries too.”

Ravaillion posted the screenshot with a love heart emoji to her own social media account.

Ravaillion issued a not-so-subtle message on social media.

Adam and Kim are confident they can make their relationship work from different states.

Collingwood list manager Ned Guy claimed the club would not have even considered moving Treloar if Ravaillion hadn’t chosen to play for the Firebirds, while the 27-year-old confirmed Magpies coach Nathan Buckley told him senior players at the club wanted him gone — something Treloar refused to believe.

Ravaillion took aim at Collingwood for not showing her partner the respect he deserves.

“I think it could have been handled a lot better,” Ravaillion told the Herald Sun. “Ads absolutely loved playing for Collingwood and he loves all his teammates and he had nothing bad to say about them.

“I wish he was a bit more well respected in what he gave to the club and him as a person, I think he was treated pretty poorly.

“But in saying that, he’s now at a club that will now treat him with that respect.

“He didn’t want to leave … it wasn’t his choice, but in the end it got to a point where he just didn’t want to go back to a club that treated him like that.

“We got to this point where we are now and we couldn’t be more relieved.”

Ravaillion also said it was “pretty sad” Collingwood wanted to use her as a “scapegoat” by claiming her move to Queensland was behind the decision to punt Treloar.

“I just think it’s funny they’re trying to veer it off onto me,” Ravaillion said. “We know the truth and we know that I wasn’t the reason.

“The fact that everyone has an opinion about our life is just ridiculous, worry about your own life.”

Treloar is a happy new addition to the kennel.

Taking to Instagram on the weekend, Treloar spoke of his excitement at donning the Dogs’ guernsey in 2021.

“What a crazy ride my AFL career has been. I’ve played for 2 wonderful clubs in the Giants and the Pies and now I get the opportunity to play for this great club in the @westernbulldogs,” he wrote.

“Never thought in my wildest dreams that I was going to be somewhere else other then the Pies but here I am and I couldn’t be more grateful and our family is so happy to be here.

“I’m so grateful and cherish the 5 years I spent with the Pies, I met some lifelong friends and played in front of such a passionate fan base that I’m going to miss so much.

“One chapter closes and another one opens. I cannot wait to represent this club that I now love and be part of something special.”
