JED Adcock is poised to sign a new contract which will make him a Lion for life and put him squarely in the frame to captain the club when Jonathan Brown hangs up his boots.

Brisbane will announce, possibly as early as tomorrow, that the 26-year-old vice-captain has signed a new three-year deal.

Adcock has played 139 AFL games since his debut in 2004 and is one of the club's most respected and professional players.

His reputation for consistency is reflected in three top-five finishes in the club champion award despite injury-plagued seasons in 2006, '09 and 2010.

In the years he has been fit he has finished third in 2005, second behind skipper Jonathan Brown in 2007, and was equal fourth with Pearce Hanley last year.

He also won the most professional award last year after shouldering much of the leadership responsibility in the prolonged absence of Brown through injury.

Adcock is enjoying another stellar season and was among Brisbane's best in the Lions' shock 10-point victory over Adelaide on Saturday night.
