‘In bed exposed’: AFL star Jon Patton stood down after more women accuse of lewd images
Hawks star Jon Patton has been stood down after accusations of sending lewd images to women who “made it clear” they didn’t want them.
Allegations Hawks star Jon Patton sent unwanted lewd images on social media has prompted two more women to come forward.
It was revealed on Saturday the 27-year-old was being investigated in an internal club investigation following allegations he sent pictures of a personal intimate nature to a woman via direct message.
More messages have been revealed with Hawthorn standing down the star, as he reportedly missed training on Monday.
“Hawthorn Football Club has stood down Jonathon Patton from all club commitments until the completion of its investigation into allegations of Patton’s inappropriate behaviour on social media,” the statement read.
“The club’s Integrity Committee met this afternoon and will continue to ascertain all relevant information.
“The club will provide a further update at the completion of the investigation and asks that the privacy of all parties involved be respected at this time.”
Patton, who only joined Hawthorn from GWS ahead of last season, has deleted his social media accounts with the club confirming on Saturday an investigation by its integrity committee had begun.
On Sunday night two more women said they were sent photos and videos via social media by Patton, which they did not want.
“Basically from the get-go he was talking to me in such a sexual nature that I never reciprocated. He would send me photos of him in bed exposed,” Elle Coonan told Nine News.
“I would make it really clear that I didn’t want that from him.”
Nine News reported women had been contacted dating back to at least 2017.
Jacqueline Kearton separately told her story to Channel 7.
“He just needs to be made an example of so these young guys who are coming up and looking at these older players think they’d better not do that sort of stuff,” Kearton told Seven News.
“Unfortunately it’s not something that’s uncommon but it makes you feel uncomfortable.”
Hawthorn’s investigation was based around the allegations of another woman.
“Hawthorn Football Club is aware of allegations made on social media regarding the behaviour of Jonathon Patton,” the statement read.
“The allegations are of behaviour that does not reflect the values and standards of Hawthorn Football Club.
“As soon as the club became aware of the allegations it addressed the matter with Patton directly and clearly communicated that any behaviour of this nature would not be tolerated.
“The club takes these allegations seriously and has referred the matter to Hawthorn’s Integrity Committee.
“Hawthorn advocates for equality and respect for everyone and demands this same behaviour from all involved with the club.”
The Herald Sun reported another matter on Monday night who matched with Patton on a dating app and was soon after for “a chat”.
“It ended up being a Facetime and when I answered he was w**king on camera,” the woman said.
“I was walking down Collins Street at the time, I was completely shocked.
“It’s not like we were speaking for long and he knew I was into it.”
Patton vehemently denies sending unsolicited images and videos of himself, the Herald Sun reports.
