‘Flat’: Footy fans unimpressed with AFL Grand Final halftime show
AFL fans were treated to a pre-game spectacular, but the halftime show failed to strike a chord as social media lit up over the display.
Footy fans were treated to a 2022 AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment show for the ages as they praised international music icon Robbie Williams and Delta Goodrem who got the crowd at the MCG on their feet.
Unfortunately the halftime show failed to come anywhere close as fans were left far from impressed.
The halftime show featured Australian non-binary star drummer and singer G-Flip, The Temper Trap featuring Budjerah and Ngaiire, Goanna with Shane Howard, Christine Anu, Emma Donovan, Tasman Keith and William Barton and The Australian Girls Choir.
Viewers tuning into the coverage questioned the sound quality and technical elements of the performance saying The Temper Trap sounded “underwhelming”, “flat” and off-key.

I used to like Sweet Disposition... The Temper Trap murdered their own song.

This is an embarrassing half time show. I hope no international people are watching. #AFLGrandFinal

There were mixed reviews about G-Flip’s performance of Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl”, with some fans applauding the entertainer on their energy and skilful drumming, while others questioned the “hype” around their popularity.
Collingwood fans praised G-Flip’s wardrobe which included a Magpies scarf and exposed Calvin Klein underwear.
Other fans took to Twitter to plead with the AFL to bring back Williams and Goodrem for another performance mid-match to revive the apparent quiet crowd.
Half time doesnât compare to pre game entertainment. Still donât get the fuss about G Flip. #AFLGrandFinal#AFLGF
