Pop icon Robbie Williams has rocked the MCG ahead of the AFL Grand Final, paying tribute to some of the nation’s legends.
The epic performance had everything from a bright fuchsia suit, mohawk-mullet, bagpipes, flames and exactly you would expect from a legendary world-class performer.
There was speculation ahead of the pre-game entertainment but as soon as Williams’ performance kicked off, the visitors to the MCG were off their seats and viewers at homes appeared just as impressed.
“Give Robbie Williams the Norm Smith medal now, best grand final entertainment in years,” said one Twitter user.
“That was sensational,” said another.
The reaction from those who tuned into the show before the first bounce was almost unanimous as fans took to social media to request Williams perform at the Grand Final each year.

The icon also paid tribute to the late Shane Warne, pointing at Warnie’s family sitting the stands as he sung his hit song Angels, as well as Australian sensation John Farnham who recently had cancer surgery, singing the “unofficial Australian anthem”, You’re the Voice.
Williams also welcomed Australian megastar Delta Goodrem alongside him, in a matching bright pink jumpsuit as 100,000 fans sung along to ‘Kids’ with the pair.
