Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney spotted at AFL with fellow stars

Hollywood hit the AFL at the weekend, with a trio of stars surprising the crowd as they decked out in Sydney Swans merchandise.

The Sydney Cricket Ground got a touch of Hollywood glam over the weekend when Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney was spotted in the stands watching an AFL game.

The 25-year-old US actress even looked the part as she wore a red-and-white Swans scarf when cheering on the home side against the Hawthorn Hawks in round two of the AFL on Sunday.

Her attendance may be a surprise to many, but it appears going to a football game was always on Sweeney’s Aussie bucket list.

“Go to my first footy game,”️ she wrote on Instagram alongside a tick emoji, implying she completed an item on her list of must-do’s.

Sweeney is currently in Sydney to film her upcoming untitled rom-com alongside Glen Powell.

And while the Top Gun: Maverick star didn’t attend alongside her, Sweeney managed to rope in her other co-stars Dermot Mulroney and Aussie actress Rachel Griffiths to accompany her to the game on their day off filming.

“Hollywood in the house,” the Swan’s official Instagram account wrote as they posted a photo of the trio on the stands.

“Nice to have the amazing @sydney_sweeney @dermotmulroney @rachelgriffithsofficial enjoying the footy this afternoon @ourscg!”

Following the game, which saw the Swans smash the Hawks 118 to 37, Sweeney and her co-stars were invited onto the pitch and inside the sheds for some photo opportunities with players such as Chad Warner, Errol Gulden, Justin McInerney and Oliver Florent.

Sweeney first arrived in Sydney earlier this month to film the R-rated rom-com, on which her love interest will be played by Powell. The duo have been seen filming across the city, including the suburbs of Surry Hills and Double Bay, and on a boat in Pittwater on the Nothern Beaches.

The movie, which is directed by Easy A and Friends With Benefits filmmaker Will Gluck, reunites Mulroney and Griffiths for the first time since they starred alongside Julia Roberts in the 1997 rom-com My Best Friend’s Wedding.
