Dane Rampe’s dangerous act against Melbourne caught on camera

Sydney Swans defender Dane Rampe has seemingly taken inspiration from Gold Coast’s Sean Lemmens, casually flipping an opponent during Saturday evening’s clash against the Melbourne Demons.

Earlier on Saturday, Lemmens body slammed St Kilda’s Dan Butler following the halftime siren at Metricon Stadium as the two sides became embroiled in a brief melee.

And Rampe was filmed by an MCG spectator attempting a similar move on Demons midfielder Ed Langdon.

The pair were wrestling off-ball in the goalsquare when Rampe grabbed Langdon’s legs and flipped him almost 360 degrees — the Demon thankfully didn’t land on his head or neck, narrowly avoiding serious injury.

Footage of the incident was uploaded to social media platform TikTok, and later shared on Twitter.

Rampe could potentially find himself in hot water with the Match Review Officer for the dangerous move.

The 30-year-old finished the round eight contest with 21 disposals, seven marks and a tackle.

Melbourne’s unbeaten run continued after holding off a brave Sydney outfit by nine points on Saturday.

For the most part it was far from a game to write home about, but a tense final quarter made sure no one was leaving early.

The Dees looked to have broken the Swans in the third quarter when they jumped out to a 22-point lead at the 21-minute mark, but Sydney wouldn’t go away.

The Swans started the hotter of the two sides and had a goal in the first minute through Justin McInerney before Will Hayward kicked the Bloods’ second four minutes later to give them a dream start.

But Tom McDonald ignited Melbourne, who kicked the next three of the game and, on the back of sturdy defence, had the better of the contest to halftime.

When they extended their 11-point halftime lead to 22-points deep into the third, it looked as though they were on their way.

However, late goals to Jake Lloyd and Tom Papley cut the Dees’ lead at the last break to just 10 points, before a goal in the first minute of the final term from Callum Sinclair had the MCG rocking and the Swans believing.

But after getting within four points deep into the quarter, best on ground McDonald took a huge contested mark and kicked truly from point-blank range to keep the Swans at arm’s length as the Dees held on.
