Travis Cloke under fire on social media after disappointing AFL return
FANS have given less than flattering feedback for Travis Cloke’s return to senior action with emotions ranging from anger to sadness.
FANS have given less than flattering feedback for Travis Cloke’s return to senior action.
The Collingwood key forward played his first senior game since Round 4 against Port Adelaide today but could manage just one behind on the scoreboard.
He worked hard for 13 disposals, four tackles and six marks — some of them in the back pocket — but saw several others slip through his fingers and lined up for a set shot from 50m out directly in front only to send the ball sailing out of bounds on the full.
It’s fair to say the wet conditions weren’t ideal for a marking forward and Cloke wasn’t the only Magpie not at his best as the Power cruised to a 67-point win.
Coach Nathan Buckley described Cloke’s performance as “serviceable”.
But fans on social media weren’t in a forgiving mood.
Back to the VFL for the most overrated player in the history of the game! #Cloke

How good is Cloke going when he's getting beaten by a 1st gamer #AFLPiesPower

Injuries or not Travis Cloke shouldn't be anywhere near this team. An absolute shadow of what he once was #Magpies

But some fans defended a player they see as a scapegoat for Collingwood’s bigger problems.
Alright Cloke didn't have a ripper game but neither did the rest of the team. The effort from him was there.
