AFL world all saying the same thing about Matt Hill’s commentary work
Footy fans couldn’t quite believe their ears on Sunday afternoon as social media was flooded with everyone saying the same thing.
Footy fans who tuned in to Sunday’s contest between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs were loving what they were hearing.
The game, only being played on Fox Footy, copped a flood of support from those watching on and it had nothing to do with the action unfolding on the field.

Instead it was the commentary team who were on the receiving end of the love, with one man getting more attention than the rest of his fellow callers.
Matt Hill joined the Fox Footy crew for the Sunday match and quickly left fans reaching for the remote and turning the volume all the way up.
Rohan Connolly wrote: “Really enjoying this TV commentary team of Anthony Hudson, Matt Hill, Jordan Lewis & Brad Johnson. The game is the focus, lots of intelligent observation, and there’s also markedly lower levels of testosterone. More please.”
Another user wrote: “Outstanding decision by Fox Footy to add Matt Hill to the commentary team. Loving his no frills and very precise detailed call of the game.”
While fans were loving the work of the normal horse racing caller, they couldn’t help but call out Brian Taylor and claim the new man behind the microphone had already surpassed him.
One wrote: “Matt Hill has BT, JB, Richo and everyone else covered at 7.”
Another added: “Matt Hill has joined Fox Footy! Channel 7 will never recover.”

Hill reached the pinnacle last year when he called the AFL Grand Final for SEN’s digital platform, AFL Nation.
“I’m pinching myself about this one because I never thought an opportunity would come this early, I’ve only called footy for the last three years,” Hill said to racenet.
“The main priority, just like a race call, is to call it as accurately as you can.”
Taylor however has long drawn criticism from sections of the football loving masses for his work behind the microphone and that trend continued during opening round.
When discussing the crowd of around 40,000 fans at the SCG, Taylor quipped: “That’s the biggest number they’ve had here for a while I reckon.”
One social media user quickly pointed out the crowd for last year’s round 24 contest between Sydney and Melbourne drew an attendance of 41,753.
But it wasn’t just Taylor who came under fire from fans with former Richmond star Matthew Richardson also copping criticism over one remark.
Taylor took centre stage after the final siren with the return of his Roaming Brian segment and while he didn’t dish up any instantly iconic moments, a Sydney player stole his thunder.
The moustached Taylor approached Brodie Grundy after his first game for the Swans with the ruckman delivering a masterclass performance.
“You liking this Brodes, it’s pretty mate?” Taylor asked.
Grundy responded: “Wow mate. I manifested this, I knew there was a potential for this to happen and, wowee.”
