Smith deal going down to the wire?

More than three days passed between the second and third deals of this year’s trade period.

Jack Darling (North Melbourne) and Alex Neal-Bullen (Adelaide) moved on Monday, but it took until Friday for a pick swap between Richmond and Brisbane Lions to get the exchange period moving again.

A big reason for the halt in proceedings has been the strength of this year’s draft, with clubs unwilling to part with picks to help seal trades.

Carlton and Hawthorn flipped the trade period on its head when they made a huge swap on Friday involving pick 14.
