AFL trade news: Recap all the updates and news from day 5 of AFL trade period

Melbourne has hit back at reports Clayton Oliver packed his bags and left the club on a day where a shock trade threw several moves into jeopardy. See all the news from day five here.

Interim Melbourne president Brad Green has hit back at reports Clayton Oliver had “cleaned out his locker” in an attempt to push through a trade to Geelong.

Matthew Lloyd told 3AW on Friday morning: “There are reports over the last 24 hours that he still wants out despite Melbourne saying they are not trading him.

“And the fact that he’s cleaned out his locker, a lot of people believe he’s willing to take a pay cut and he just doesn’t want to go back there.

“So after Christian Petracca and that debacle and now this one, it’s an absolute mess down at Melbourne.”

Green hit back on Friday afternoon calling the report a “non story”.

“Every player cleans out their locker every year. We go between AAMI and Casey. Non story,” he posted on Twitter.

Green told the club’s best and fairest: “I know come Round 1 next year when I see the first ball bounced and our midfield of Gawn, Viney, Oliver and Petracca, and our first clearance, that you Melbourne faithful will be there in full force.”

On Friday afternoon Lloyd doubled down on his earlier comments.

“That’s the information I was given and was confident on,” he said.
