Adam Treloar reportedly ‘frustrated’ with Collingwood Magpies as trade drama deepens

Despite claiming he has “never considered” departing Collingwood, there remains a lingering possibility Magpies midfielder Adam Treloar will leave the Melbourne powerhouse this off-season.

Speculation about the Magpies’ roster has erupted since the club suffered an embarrassing semi-final exit last weekend, and the 27-year-old continues to top the agenda.

Treloar’s partner Kim Ravaillion will reignite her Super Netball career with the Queensland Firebirds next year, and is expected to move north with the couple’s seven-month-old daughter.

Although Ravaillion will spend 10 months in the sunshine state in 2021, Treloar told AFL 360 on Tuesday he has no intention of leaving Collingwood.

Despite the defiant stance, Fox Sports journalist Tom Morris reported Treloar has been left “incredibly frustrated” by conversations with the club since Saturday’s defeat.

According to Morris, Treloar is convinced the club wants him gone, and an ugly stand-off between the two parties is in the works.

On Friday morning, Channel 7’s Tom Browne also hinted there were rumblings behind the scenes of a potential move for Treloar.

“There’s been some discussion about the Collingwood champion midfielder this week and interest from the Gold Coast Suns and his interest in moving there given the fact that his partner is going to be in Queensland for 10 months next year,” Browne said on Triple M’s Hot Breakfast.

“Now Treloar has ruled this out, which is fair enough, and there’s every chance that he’ll stay at the Magpies … but I think there’s a little bit more to this story.

“There’s plenty of chatter around this, and some information that I’ve got that would indicate perhaps in the right circumstances Collingwood would be open to this.”

Browne followed up by writing on Twitter: “I’m told Collingwood told Adam, ‘Find a club, and we’ll arrange the trade’. I put this Collingwood, who didn’t respond. And Treloar’s manager. Who didn’t directly address it.

“There is no guarantee Treloar will leave Collingwood. But the key point here is Collingwood are either pushing or open to it. And Treloar’s comments on 360 were all about him fulfilling his side of the contract/bargain.”

Regardless, Collingwood president Eddie McGuire remains “confident” Treloar will not depart the club, laughing off the rumours on Wednesday.

“I’m not that fussed about any of that situation. We only finished playing on the weekend,” McGuire told Channel 9’s Footy Classified.

“I’m confident that both those boys (Treloar and Jordan De Goey) will be at Collingwood next year.”

Treloar has played 94 AFL games for Collingwood following a four-year stint with the GWS Giants.

Meanwhile, out-of-contract forward Jordan De Goey will meet with the Magpies on Friday to sort out a fresh deal.

Although Essendon has expressed interest in the 24-year-old, Collingwood is prepared to make an offer to De Goey, according to 7 News.

“Jordy loves the club,” Collingwood coach Buckley told reporters after the defeat to Geelong.

“He wants to be here. Elements of people on his side would like to see him remunerated as well as he possibly could and we want him to be rewarded appropriately as well. As we do with the other 44 players on the list for what they bring to the table.

“There is no lack of belief in what the place does for him and the opportunities it provides. And the love and care and connection that he has to not only the club, but also his teammates. There still needs to be a monetary outcome that is satisfactory to both parties.”
