Gary and Jordan Ablett announce amazing baby news with adorable photo
Football legend Gary Ablett and wife Jordan have announced their son Levi has a new sibling after the couple gave birth in secret.
Football legend Gary Ablett and his wife Jordan are celebrating the birth of their first baby girl after keeping their pregnancy secret all year.
The couple blew fans away on Thursday when Jordan shared a photo of the retired Geelong AFL star holding their new child.
According to the social media post, the couple have named their new child Grace Honour Ablett. She was born on November 10.
“We are overjoyed to share with you all that our precious little boy, Levi, has become a big brother to his very own little sister; Grace,” the post read.
“Thank you god for sending this little angel – our beautiful daughter – into our family.”
Their special new arrival means son Levi, 2, has a baby sister.
The 37-year-old Brownlow medal-winner has previously spoken glowingly of the special relationship he has with Levi, who was diagnosed with a rare and degenerative disease.
It comes after the couple faced the enormous hardship of being separated for the 2020 AFL season as a result of the AFL’s Covid-19 biosecurity protocols — which coincided with their son needing treatment at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and Jordan caring for her mother, Trudy, who was also battling lung cancer at the time.
Jordan’s mother tragically died in August, 2020.
She also revealed in March that Levi has a very short life expectancy.
Jordan shared details of the joy Levi brings to their lives — and the extreme challenge of caring for their precious boy — earlier this year.
“He (Levi) is so precious and still just as smiley and determined as ever,” Jordan said.
“I truly love being his mother.
“We’re taking his health one day at a time and just really enjoying him and parenthood.
“Ultimately, our focus is family.
“Investing in one another and our little man is and always will be our number one priority.
“We don’t ever want to hide his light from the world but instead, we want to allow him to shine brightly in the hope that someone else’s life will (through him) become much brighter.”
She said of her difficult 2020: “It was really, really hard. Because the diagnosis came when Mum was towards the end of her journey ... we just had a lot of things happen all at once.
“So yeah, we are in this together and it is what it is. And yeah, we are just taking it day by day.
“He’s doing well. He does have his challenges that we as a family are facing on a day-to-day basis.
“But in saying that he’s so determined, and like you said, he’s just so smiley and has such a joy for life.”
