Woman, 29, shot dead by police in Western Australia
The 29-year-old woman was shot by a police officer at a home in Geraldton and later died in hospital.
A woman is dead after she was shot by police in Western Australia.
The shooting happened about 6.15pm yesterday after officers went to a home in Karloo, Geraldton.
“During an incident at the address, an officer discharged their firearm causing a woman to receive a gunshot wound,” WA police said in a statement.
“The 29-year-old woman was conveyed by ambulance to Geraldton Regional Hospital where she later died.”
Major Crime officers have travelled to Geraldton to begin an investigation into the incident.
The Police Internal Affairs Unit will also conduct a separate inquiry.
The Guardian reported the 29-year-old was an indigenous woman with a seven-year-old child.
