The Voice Kids star Robbie blows coaches Mel B and Delta Goodrem away with his bold banter

PERTH’S The Voice Kids contestant Robbie stole the show with what he said to Mel B and coach Delta Goodrem.

NINE’S The Voice Kids kicked off last night and the youngsters certainly didn’t disappoint, but there was one seriously cool cat who stole the show.

13-year-old Robbie bounced on to the stage and belted out a chair turning rendition of Train’s hit song Hey, Soul Sister, with Mel B and Delta Goodrem madly pressing their buttons.

However no one was prepared for the hilarious banter that followed his stellar performance. The bold teen — who is from Scotland but now lives in Perth — even asked the coaches to show him their best Scottish accents.

After landing himself a hug from Mel B, the super confident kid turned to Goodrem and said: “Delta, I’ve just been hugged by Scary Spice, what are you going to do for me?”

He eventually opted for Team Delta, but not before declaring: “I’m going to pick now because there’s going to be a cat fight soon.”

Robbie’s hysterical stage presence was just one of the highlights of last night’s first round of blind auditions. Viewers were also treated to 10-year-old Jasmine from Sydney, who blew everyone away singing Bjork’s It’s Oh, So Quiet, nine-year-old Molly from New South Wales gave an adorable rendition of Kasey Chambers’ Not Pretty Enough and 13-year-old busker Chris nailed Ed Sheeran’s The A Team.

Unsurprisingly, there was the occassional display of tears and a few sob stories that surfaced along with contestants, but as we know that seems to be the formula for reality TV success these days.

Along with the impressive crop of pint-sized stars, the talent show sees the return of homegrown songstress Delta Goodrem, who seems to be much more in her element coaching the kids, the Madden brothers, who are working together and spin as one, and Mel B is not that scary at all when dealing with the youngsters.
