The mother of a woman left fighting for her life after she was allegedly set on fire by her estranged husband has issued an emotional update.

Fiona Halton took to social media to provide an update on the condition of her daughter, Kirsten Moiler, 33, following the alleged domestic violence attack on June 2.

“Kirsten is currently in a medically induced coma suffering very serious burns to 40 per cent of her body,” she said.

“Kirsten has life changing injuries and will require extensive medical treatment for a prolonged period of time.”

“Her life will be impacted by this (alleged) attack forever.”

Ms Moiler, a mother-of-three, was rushed to hospital last week after her estranged husband, Peter Moiler, 42, allegedly set her on fire near her Mount Helena home in Perth’s outskirts.

Police say they were called to a vehicle fire about 6.25pm, finding a man and a woman suffering burn injuries at the scene.

Neighbours reported hearing Ms Moiler screaming “help me, help me” in the moments after what they described as an explosion.

Ms Moiler suffered “serious burns” and was flown to Perth’s Fiona Stanley Hospital, while Mr Moiler was taken to the same hospital with “less serious burn injuries”, according to WA Police.

He was charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and faced court two days later, after his release from hospital.

Ms Halton said her daughter was a “beautiful mother” who would now be separated from her children as she spends months recovering.

“I‘d like to thank everyone that assisted my daughter,” she said.

“To the Mt Helena residents, the medical response team and the staff at Fiona Stanley Hospital I will forever be grateful for your actions that have saved my daughter.

“Kirsten‘s family and I are very grateful for all the love and support at this time.”

Several online fundraisers have been created, including one by Ms Halton, to assist with medical treatment and caring for the children, as Ms Halton said her daughter has a “long hard road to recovery”.
