An urgent recall alert has been issued for a popular chicken product sold at IGA and Farmer Jack’s stores in Western Australia, with health authorities warning pregnant women and unborn babies are at risk.

The product is Fresh Frontier’s 300g and 500g spicy chicken mango pasta salad, with a use-by marking date of May 17.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand warns the product contains a microbial contamination, specifically listeria monocytogenes.

“Listeria monocytogenes may cause severe illness in pregnant women, unborn babies, neonates, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals,” the health advisory body states.

“The general population can also become ill from consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.”

“Consumers should not eat this product.

“Consumers should return the product or products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”

In 2023, Fresh Frontier issued a recall for batches of its chicken bacon pasta salad, also on listeria contamination fears.
