Angie Waixel was aged about nine when her parents bought the cosy home at 9/29 Robe St.
Ms Waixel’s father, Nicholae, died about 15 years ago but her mother, Zina, has lived in the residence for longer than 60 years.

The two-bedroom apartment is located within the Carnong Courts building that dates back to 1898.
In 1926, noted architect and former Royal Victorian Institute of Architects president Kingsley Anketell Henderson modernised the complex.
Ms Waixel said her mother, who is downsizing, loved how light and airy the home was, plus its proximity to public transport and Acland St.
Zina also has many friends in the neighbourhood.
“Just going down the street, people are very friendly and always said ‘hello’ to her, and if she struggled with her shopping, they would help,” Ms Waixel said.
Her parents put carpet and wallpaper in the apartment after they moved in, altering it several times across the years.

“Mum always loved to change everything and poor Dad used to have to change it around,” Ms Waixel said.
At 132sq m in size, the apartment features a dining room and a sun room separate to the living area, gas fireplaces, high panelled ceilings, decorative coving, terracotta roof tiles and a car space.
Ms Waixel remembers kicking a football in the communal back garden with her brother, Peter.
“On Sundays, we used to go down to the pier and the St Kilda Baths,” she said.
They also watched films at the Palais and Victory theatres, went ice-skating at the former St Moritz Ice Rink and visited Luna Park and Chapel St.
The apartment went under the hammer on the weekend but passed in on a $1m vendor bid, in an auction conducted by EYS Auctions’ auctioneer Alisha Hobart.
It is now being offered for private sale with a $950,000-$1.045m price range.
Murnane Real Estate’s Brian Terry said Carnong Courts’ apartments rarely hit the market, with the last listed by fashion designer Alannah Hill, in 2021.
“People raise families there, there’s a few artists in the building and thespians, too,” Mr Terry said.
