South Yarra: Newly built stone and marble house hits the market with $5m+ price hopes
Lavish features and attention to detail make this newly built home in Melbourne’s inner south a standout in the area. See what it might sell for.
Natural stone, heated flooring, a floating wine cellar and a magnesium heated pool are just some of the lavish features at this ultra-luxe South Yarra home.
Vendor Ross Perry spent the past four years custom designing the four-bedroom, three-bathroom build of his 63 Lang St abode in collaboration with award-winning design and construction teams DW Architects and home builder Virgon Constructions.

This involved knocking down the existing house on the property and building Perry’s dream pad in its place – one with natural stone and marble surfaces throughout, soaring 7m-high ceilings and a huge island benchtop in the kitchen.
“I built it to my standards, it has my fingerprints all over it in terms of the attention to detail,” he says.
“I made the pool magnesium as I don’t like getting out of the pool and smelling like chlorine. And everything is automated so you can turn the spa on when you’re leaving the city at 5pm and it’ll be ready for when you get home.”
The smart automation system can be operated from any phone or tablet device and controls features such as the facial recognition and fingerprint entry system, underfloor hydronic heating, bathroom floor heating, video intercoms and a self-cleaning pool.
“I love the floor heating, I found you don’t need any other heating with it on … and as simple as it sounds the double glazing is amazing with how quiet it is,” says Perry.
The glamorous home spans two storeys including the ground floor where a bedroom with an ensuite joins the spacious, open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with an adjoining butler’s pantry, elevated wine cellar and hidden bar.

This room also opens out through floor-to-ceiling glass bi-fold doors to the covered north-facing outdoor entertaining zone, complete with a built-in barbecue kitchen and heating overlooking the magnesium plunge pool and spa.
Upstairs, three further bedrooms and a rumpus room are found, the main featuring a spacious walk-in wardrobe and stylish ensuite.
“I would’ve looked at the plans about 80 times, just going through everything and the measurements in fine detail,” Perry adds.
Although he initially built the home to live in himself, a change of circumstances has led to the property’s $4.7m-$5.17m listing with Marshall White Stonnington partner Fraser Cahill.
Perry, a financial services executive, says this is about the eighth property he has built including several in Brisbane, but the South Yarra pad had “a lot more emotional involvement”.
“The Brisbane ones I don’t really get involved with but for me, this one is pretty special,” he says.
“It’s bittersweet to put it on the market but it’s exciting for whoever buys it.”
Cahill adds that it is likely to attract a mix of buyers including young families, professional couples without kids and downsizers.
“There’s not an area in the home where you’re starved of natural light,” he notes.
“And the technology is unbelievable, it’s just a very practical and functional home and it’s got that genuine wow factor.”
Cahill is currently fielding expressions of interest for the property, with offers closing on August 8.
