A judge in New York City has ordered its former mayor, Rudy Giuliani, to hand over control of his apartment on Manhattan’s rich Upper East Side, along with his highly valuable baseball memorabilia, to a pair of election workers he defamed in 2020.

Mr Giuliani, a prosecutor before he turned to politics, will be forced to fork over his three-bedroom apartment on East 66th Street, a prime location.

He will also lose a Mercedes-Benz SL500 and other valuables, including cash, to Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea Moss, per the ruling in their $US148 million ($A223 million) defamation case against him, The New York Postreports.

Mr Giuliani, 80, has seven days to turn over his apartment – whose price he recently slashed by a million US dollars in a last-ditch bid to offload it – into a receivership controlled by Ms Freeman and Ms Moss.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo, priced at $US5.18 million ($A7.8 million) as of earlier this month, boasts a wood-panelled library, a wood-burning fireplace and views of Central Park.

Mr Giuliani has also been ordered, by Judge Lewis Liman, to turn over a picture signed by legendary New York Yankees player Reggie Jackson, a replica of Joe DiMaggio’s jersey, also signed, more than 20 luxury watches, a diamond, cash and furniture.

“The Court also does not doubt that certain of the items may have sentimental value to defendant,” Judge Liman wrote in his 24-page ruling.

“But that does not entitle the defendant to continued enjoyment of the assets to the detriment of the plaintiffs, to whom he owes approximately $US150 million ($A226 million).”

A federal jury awarded the two Georgia election workers the whopping judgment last year.

Judge Liman has yet to rule on whether the former New York City mayor will also need to hand over his valuable Yankees World Series rings, which his son Andrew claims were given to him as a gift.

The judge also reserved judgment for now on whether or not to force Mr Giuliani to turn over his multimillion-dollar condo in Palm Beach, Florida.

The Fulton County workers filed the lawsuit against the man once lionised as “America’s mayor”, given his role in the wake of the 9/11 terror attacks, in 2021, claiming his lies that they processed fraudulent ballots during the 2020 presidential election led to them facing threats and racist verbal attacks.

Mr Giuliani was found liable for defaming Ms Moss and Ms Freeman in August of 2023, having failed to divulge electronic messages and financial records that the women's’ lawyers were entitled to during the litigation.

The former mayor led Donald Trump’s legal team after the 2020 election. Mr Trump’s team launched more than 60 lawsuits challenging the results, citing his allegations of widespread voter fraud. Those lawsuits went nowhere due to a lack of evidence.
