Woman seriously injured in Seddon stabbing
A WOMAN has been seriously injured after being stabbed by a man behaving strangely at her home in Melbourne’s inner west.
A WOMAN has been seriously injured after a man began behaving erratically before stabbing her at her home in Melbourne’s west last night.
Police have arrested the man and he is currently being assessed by a forensic medical officer.
Officers have been told the man was at the home of the victim in Victoria St, Seddon, when he began behaving strangely shortly before midnight.
He allegedly stabbed the woman several times in the upper body.
The victim, a 57-year-old woman, and two friends ran out into the street with the armed man chasing them.
The man chased the woman along Victoria St, which is one of Seddon’s main streets, before she collapsed.
At that point the alleged offender continued to chase one of the friends along Pilgrim St.
Passers-by went to the injured woman’s aid and she was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Transit police arrested the man, a 30-year-old from Craigieburn.
