Victoria Police appeal for information after boy, 5, involved in alleged hit and run
The family of a young boy who was allegedly the victim of a hit-and-run driver have spoken publicly for the first time about their ordeal.
A young boy has had a lucky escape after he was allegedly the victim of a hit-and-run driver.
Victoria Police said five-year-old Angus was crossing the road on Munday St in Geelong on Friday when a car travelling west hit him about 3.30pm.
The car stopped and the female driver got out for a short time before she returned to the vehicle and drove off down Yarra St.
Police said Angus was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, Angus’ family released a statement calling on the driver to hand herself in.
“Our main concern is for the health and welfare of our family in this challenging time,” the family said.
“Whilst this is a traumatic event, we don’t have ill will toward the driver, however we urge them to come forward for their own peace of mind as much as anything.
“If anyone has information or knows this person, we would also appreciate you coming forward. Thank you.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
