Despite negotiation attempts, the man moved towards the officers who then shot him, according to police.

The man was struck in the lower body and has been taken to hospital under police guard.

He is in a critical but stable condition.

A woman from the home was also taken to hospital as a precaution after witnessing the incident.

It’s believed those involved are known to each other and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

Homicide squad detectives are set to investigate the death of the man, who is yet to be formally identified.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Dean Thomas is set to address the media on Friday afternoon.
