A severed finger has reportedly been found in a car park after an alleged stabbing attack that left a teenager in critical condition.

The finger was found by a police officer, according to 7NEWS.

Emergency services were called to Lake St near Caroline Springs Shopping Centre about 5.15pm on Thursday.

Armed offenders allegedly got out of a car and approached the teenager in a laneway before attacking him.

The teenager suffered stab wounds to his hand and upper body.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries, while the alleged perpetrators fled the scene by car before police arrived.

Photos from the scene show blood-soaked clothing was left on a nearby footpath.

A spokesperson for Victoria Police did not disclose whether a finger was found on the scene.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

It comes after an alleged stabbing attack in May at a skate park just off St Alban’s Main Rd East, about 20 minutes away from Caroline Springs. Two teenagers were left with serious injuries after the alleged attack.

Police were also called to Bayside Shopping Centre at Frankston south of Melbourne in July following reports a group of machete-wielding teenagers were inside.
