Police are searching for six men who threatened a Bunnings worker with an axe in Melbourne’s southeast.
Victoria Police allege the six men entered the Cheltenham Rd store in Keysborough where they stole power tools about 3.20pm on Saturday.
A spokeswoman the men fled the scene, while one man armed with an axe allegedly threatened a staff member.
Nobody was injured during the robbery.
Bunnings area manager Nicole Marshall said the aggravated theft was another in a long line of incidents retail workers were facing in their day-to-day jobs.
“The safety of our team and customers is our top priority, and we never tolerate any violent behaviour at our stores,” she said.
“We thank our team for the calm and professional way they handled the situation and we have now referred this matter to the police.
“Unfortunately, this is an example of the rise in threatening incidents currently being experienced by retail workers.”
Anyone with information about the incident should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
