POLICE are searching for a man who savagely attacked an unsuspecting passenger on a train last month.
The victim was travelling home from Melbourne’s CBD with a colleague on June 29 and just before 10pm, a man boarded the train at Camberwell station in Melbourne’s east.
He was swearing and making comments about passengers and the victim confronted him.
It turned out to be a mistake as the man approached the victim from behind and stood over him and slapped him in the face.
The victim’s head was then pushed into the window of the carriage and the man went back to his seat.
He left the train at Canterbury station but reboarded and punched the victim in the face.
Other passengers pulled the man off the victim and he left the train, ran across the tracks and left the station by jumping a wall.
The victim suffered from swelling, bruising and a minor concussion.
Anyone who recognises the man or with any information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report online.
