A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder after police discovered the body of a man in an apartment block stairwell.
A man has been charged with murder after police discovered the body of a man in an apartment block stairwelll in Melbourne’s east.
Emergency services were called to the complex on Young St in Box Hill about 7.45pm on Saturday following reports of an assault in the foyer.
Upon arrival, police found two victims of an alleged assault, with one sustaining a minor facial injury.
A 42-year-old Box Hill man was then arrested at the scene.
After speaking with witnesses, police became aware that a third person had also been assaulted and they began a search of the building.
The attending officers soon discovered a man, who is yet to be formally identified, dead in a stairwell.
Police believe both men were known to each other.
The 42-year-old man was taken to hospital under police guard but has since been charged with murder.
He has been remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
