Hungry burglar stops to snack on muffins during alleged home robbery in Kew, Melbourne

Before taking off in a stolen car, this alleged burglar stopped to indulge in a sweet treat while rummaging around a home in Melbourne’s east.

A slightly peckish burglar stopped to indulge in a sweet treat during an alleged home robbery in Melbourne’s east before fleeing the scene.

Investigators believe the man allegedly gained entry to the home on Pakington St in Kew through a window about 5.30am on August 6.

The famished burglar stole a number of items including shoes, a bag, a mobile phone and car keys before stopping to eat two muffins left out on the kitchen bench.

The man then allegedly stole a 2018 Toyota LandCruiser with the Victorian registration ASI169.

Police have been unable to find the alleged offender who “failed to leave a trail of crumbs”.

Detectives have released images of a man they believe may be able to help with their investigation.

The man is believed to be of caucasian appearance, with stubble and was wearing a hoodie at the time.

Police revealed the man allegedly attempted to break into other homes in the area.

Police are urging anyone who sees the stolen Toyota or has information that can assist police with inquiries to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
