Brighton home wealthy Zagame family sold for a record sum back on market
One of Brighton’s best addresses, which briefly held the suburb’s home price record, has hit the market with an eight-figure sale price. Take a peek.
The former Brighton home of Melbourne’s wealthy Zagame family is back on the market two years after it smashed the suburb’s property price record.
With the bay at its back and some of the suburb’s priciest real estate surrounding it, the 27-29 Kent Ave mansion has been listed with a $25m-$26.5m asking price.
It was last sold in 2021 for $25m by Toni Zagame, wife of the late hospitality guru Victor Zagame. At the time it added $5m to the suburb’s home price record.

The pricey pad has sunset views out to Melbourne’s CBD skyline and Port Phillip Bay, with a five-bedroom floorplan that includes multiple living zones with marble floors, and a backyard pool zone with multiple terraces and balconies.
A lift connects its three levels, including a rooftop entertainment space with curving aspects that JP Dixon Real Estate boss Jonathan Dixon said had a “hint of the Opera House sails” to them and stood out from the “beautiful boxes” more common to Brighton’s Golden Mile.
“It’s one of the few homes that looks like an architect has had a little bit of license,” Mr Dixon said. “It’s got flair.”
He added that the owner had spent a substantial amount of money renovating the house, including establishing a new home office and library space. A retired Melbourne businessman, they have reluctantly listed after a health issue emerged.
Adding to the 1150sq m property’s appeal are soaring ceilings that stretch as high as 5.7m in places, Scholtes appliances from Germany in a high-end kitchen, a double garage as well as parking for four more vehicles and a location in walking distance of Church St shops and eateries, as well as popular schools.
Brighton’s current house price record is believed to be just over $30m after the sale of 39 Seacombe Grove last year, once the home of 7-Eleven co-owner Beverley Barlow.
However another ritzy listing at 16 Moule Ave is currently advertised with a $39.9m-$43.89m asking price via Kay & Burton. Owned by the late property developer Bruce Terry and his wife Judith, it hit the market last year seeking $46m-$50m but the price has since been reduced.
