TWO men are in a sticky situation after being charged over an alleged statewide Manuka honey heist.

The Victorians are accused of stealing $7000 worth of Manuka honey in July this year.

Manuka honey — touted as having anti-bacterial properties — sells for about $50 for 500g.

Police have accused a 23-year-old Williamstown man and a 25-year-old Footscray man of targeting Chemist Warehouse outlets in the Launceston and Hobart areas.

The charges include stealing $800 worth of Manuka honey from the Launceston store, $1130 worth from Mowbray, $485 worth from Glenorchy, $1200 worth from New Town, $585 worth from Hobart, $1300 worth from Lindisfarne and $1500 worth from the Sorell outlet.

The alleged offences occurred between July 21 and July 24.

The men were jointly charged on Friday with seven counts of stealing

They were allegedly caught on CCTV at the Chemist Warehouse in Lindisfarne on July 23.

The men are due to appear in court next month.
