Taser seized at Hobart Show
A SIDESHOW alley showdown has seen a man tasered and a woman charged at the Hobart Show.
A SIDESHOW alley showdown has seen a man tasered and a woman charged at last week’s Hobart Royal Show, according to bystanders.
Security guards at the show said a woman armed with a Taser entered the showgrounds after it had closed.
The woman tasered a show worker before she was turned on by his friends and punched in the face, show chief executive Scott Gadd said.
The melee drew the attention of police who seized the taser on arrival.
Police said a 28 year old woman from Hobart was charged with being in possession of a taser and a dangerous article.
She was bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 28 November.
No other incidents at the four day show were reported by police.
In an unrelated matter, the show banned a specific safety inspection company from certifying rides.
The company is being prosecuted in relation to workplace practices which allegedly contributed to the death of a child on a ride at the Royal Adelaide Show two years ago.
Ride operators were informed to seek certification from a different company this year.
Almost 45,000 people were estimated to have gone through the gates between Wednesday and Saturday last week.
