Snow, heavy rain and gusty winds: Tasmanians told to prepare for wild weather

Experts have issued weather warnings as heavy rain and snow hits the state. Follow the latest via our LIVE BLOG. 

Heavy rain and wind have lashed the state, while snow has also fallen in numerous parts of Tasmania.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned of heavy rain and possible flooding across Southern Tasmania on Tuesday morning.

The heavy rain and flooding is expected to be followed by cold southerly winds and cooler temperatures.

A severe weather warning for heavy rain is current for the east of the state.

Flood Watches are active for parts of eastern and southeast Tasmania.

Flood advice warnings have also been issued by Tasmania SES for the following areas:
- Monitor Conditions  Brighton, Pontville and surrounds 
- Monitor Conditions Tahune Bridge and surrounds
- Stay Informed Colebrook, Campania, Richmond and Surrounds

What to do

  • If you have a flood emergency plan, check it now.

  • Monitor conditions and prepare now to go to a safer place if conditions become more dangerous.
