THE State Government plans to table legislation to get Wicked Campers off Tasmanian roads.
The Queensland-registered vans, which display sexist sayings and artwork, have been the subject of growing community backlash.
Earlier this year, the owner of a leading Bruny Island business banned Australian van rental company Wicked Campers from his carpark because of their offensive slogans.

Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding has told State Parliament the Liberals will introduce legislation next year to get the campers, and any vehicles that display offensive slogans, off Tasmanian roads.
Mr Hidding said the move followed ongoing discussions with the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner and would mirror legislation being introduced in Queensland.
He said the slogans on the campers were an “assault on families, women and girls”.
In the meantime the State Government is looking at ways to combat the vans this summer, including potentially banning them from Tasmanian national parks.
The Government has also written to local councils encouraging them to ban the campers from council-owned facilities such as camp grounds.
Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Robin Banks has previously said the slogans on the vehicles, which have been the subject of complaints across Australia, were “absolutely” in breach of Tasmanian anti-discrimination laws.
