Scuba diver dies at Marion Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast
A SCUBA diver has died in waters near Marion Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast.
POLICE are investigating the suspected drowning of a scuba diver in waters near Marion Bay on Tasmania’s East Coast.
A 49-year-old Lenah Valley man, who was diving at Visscher Island north east of Marion Bay on Saturday, was found unresponsive in the water by companions.
His fellow divers commenced CPR before travelling to the nearest boat ramp at Boomer Bay, near Dunalley.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident around 1.20pm but the man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the boat ramp.
Saturday marked the opening of the eastern region rock lobster season in Tasmania.
A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
