ANOTHER two bushwalking mishaps have seen Tasmania Police scramble their Search and Rescue teams.

In the latest rescue, a 21-year-old man from New South Wales is missing on the South Coast walking track.

Police said the man was walking with friends yesterday in the South Cape Rivulet area when he fell behind because of sore knees.

His friends notified police this morning that he failed to arrive at an agreed location on time.

Police said the Westpac Rescue helicopter would drop a search party into the area later this afternoon.

The man was wearing appropriate bushwalking clothes, carrying food and water as well as a tarp, sleeping bag and sleeping mat.

Meanwhile, a Search and Rescue team is also responding to an EPIRB activation on Federation Peak in the southern Tasmania.

An EPIRB was activated at 2.25pm today, with the device believed to be carried by a group of four people.

The Westpac chopper is now searching for the walkers.

The emergency call-outs follow a search yesterday for a Victorian man believed missing in a mountainous area in northern Tasmania.

AJ Ahmed Rozgay called triple-0 late yesterday to report he was injured while walking on a mountain near Launceston and needed help.

His phone also couldn’t be traced.

Acting Inspector Rick Newman said the 34-year-old was this morning located at a home in Pioneer — about 100km from Launceston.

“Police contacted the man’s friends in Victoria last night and this morning were advised that the 34-year-old from Victoria had returned to the home of an associate near Pioneer last night and was safe and well,” Inspector Newman said in a statement.

“Police would like to remind people if you do make contact with police and no longer need our help, please make sure you let us know.”

In a separate incident, Tasmania Police Search and Rescue crews were notified of an injured walker at Louisa River on the South Coast Track, near Recherche Bay, late yesterday.

The 52-year-old man had suffered a lower leg injury and made a satellite phone call for help.

The Westpac chopper flew to Louisa River to transport the walker to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.
