MORE than 35 motorists have been caught speeding in a temporary roadworks site at Rosny in the space of an hour.

Today’s police operation was sparked by a complaint about drivers failing to slow down in the roadworks area.

Acting Sergeant Rebecca Sulman said 36 motorists were busted travelling in excess of the 40kmh speed limit on Rosny Hill Road and would be fined.

Acting Sergeant Sulman was disappointed with the results, saying speed

restrictions in roadworks sites were to make the area safer for workers and motorists.

“Speeding is one of the main contributors involved with serious and fatal crashes,” she said.

“Motorists are reminded that the importance of abiding by speed limits cannot be underestimated, especially in situations where there are roadworks being undertaken.”
