THE spirit of Christmas will roar to life in Hobart with the annual Toy Run.
THE spirit of Christmas will roar to life in Hobart tomorrow with the annual Toy Run.
Organisers Motorcycle Riders Association South said the Toy Run, in its 37th year, was the longest, largest and oldest toy run in Australia.
Donated toys will be presented to the Salvation Army to help spread Christmas cheer to those in need.
The run will begin at the Derwent Entertainment Centre. Gates open at midday and the riders will leave at 2.30pm for PW1.
Gifts will be donated to Salvation Army representatives on Parliament House lawns.
Tasmania Police said road closures, including some parts of the Brooker and Tasman highways and Davey St in Hobart, would begin about 2pm.
“The road closures will occur only when participants are on or approaching that section of roadway,” Sergeant Karl Krelle said.
“Police will manage traffic and will stop or direct traffic away from the event route.”
The event will finish about 3.30pm.
