A FOX carcass found in northern Tasmania last month was brought into the state from Victoria, an investigation has found.

The investigation was carried out by the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment with assistance from Tasmania Police.

In a brief statement issued this afternoon, the department said a Tasmanian man had been interviewed as part of the investigation.

“As the legal process is continuing, no further comment will be made in relation to this matter,” the statement said.

The carcass was found on the Frankford Highway on October 30 and was reported by a motorist.

The department’s initial investigations confirmed the animal had been hit by a vehicle, but not where it was living before it was found.
