A FORMER model breached the conditions of a suspended sentence for a drunken crash on her first night out after the incident which left a woman and her child seriously injured, the Hobart Magistrate’s Court has heard.

Sarah Allison Lamble, 25, of Rokeby, drove drunk on the wrong side of Pass Rd at Mornington and seriously injured a woman and her child on Australia Day last year.

In October last year she was sentenced to two months in jail for causing grievous bodily harm by negligent driving.

The sentence was wholly suspended on the condition she not reoffend for two years.

But yesterday Lamble appeared in the Hobart Magistrate’s Court for sentencing on three counts of assaulting a police officer, and one count each of obstructing, resisting and threatening a police officer on February 13 this year.

Lamble’s lawyer Jess Sawyer told the court the incidents happened on the first night Lamble dared to venture out for a drink after the crash and were in part caused by the unexpected interaction of the alcohol with medication she was taking for anxiety and depression she was suffering in the wake of the crash.

She said the incidents were isolated lapses in Lamble’s journey of rehabilitation and recovery and it would be an injustice to send her to prison to serve the suspended sentence she had breached.

None of the police had suffered serious or lasting injuries and Lamble’s attempts to spit at them had been unsucessful, she said.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Daly adjourned the case until Janaury 4.
