SA damaging wind warning: Gusts up to 100km/h, rain and storms to hit
Winter is about to unleash on the state, with winds up to 100km/h sweeping across much of SA ahead of rain and thunderstorms.
Much of South Australia is set to be smashed by damaging winds on Friday with the Bureau of Meteorology issuing a severe weather warning.
The warning has been sent out for parts of the south of the state with potential for damaging winds developing across a massive area ranging from Port Lincoln to Adelaide to Mount Gambier.
The winds are set to develop on Friday afternoon and into the evening. Peak gusts of 90 to 100km/h are likely over the Eyre Peninsula and Kangaroo Island.
The State Emergency Service advises people to move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure loose items around properties and stay indoors and away from windows.
On Friday morning there was thick fog through some Hills towns as low-lying cloud descended on Blackwood and the Hills.

SA FORECAST RAIN PATTERNS
* Hit play to see the forecast for rain across the state in coming days
Vigorous north-westerly flow is expected to develop over the southeast of the state, shifting west to south-westerly with the passage of a strong cold front on Friday night.
This comes after parts of the state saw more than 12mm of rain from 9am on Thursday including Noarlunga and Parawa West.
The rainy weather contributed to two crashes on the South-Eastern Freeway, which caused significant delays.
“There’s a front moving through with gusty showers and a chance of thunderstorms,” Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Tina Donaldson said.
And into the weekend, the winds will be “quite widespread”.
Across the weekend, temperatures will not top 16C in Adelaide with up to 10mm of rain expected on Saturday.
Rainy conditions will continue until Monday, and start to dry up on Tuesday.
