Two young men are fighting for life after the motorcycle they were on was airborne for more than 10 metres before crashing in an Adelaide suburban street.

Prospect resident Adarsh Surshkumar saw the incident when it happened about 1.25am on Sunday and said the Harley Davidson bike hit a ditch at the intersection of Guilford Ave and Maud Street.

He believed the men did not see the dip and crash landed.

“(The motorcycle) was airborne for sometime. I thought they were going to crash into our car,” Mr Surshkumar told The Advertiser.

He said the bike was airborne for about 10 metres before the passenger, 21, fell off the vehicle.

The 20-year-old rider from Burnside did not come off the motorcycle for another 20 metres.

Mr Surshkumar then called triple-0 for help.

An off-duty paramedic, who also lives on the street, came to the help of the duo before emergency service crews arrived, he said.

“I was trying to communicate with them … but they were just heavy breathing,” Mr Surshkumar said.

“I can’t explain it … it was so sad.”

The two men were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where they both remain in critical conditions.

Major crash officers are investigating and anyone who saw the collision is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or go online.
