Two men are fighting for life after a motorcycle they were riding crashed before becoming airborne for up to 10 metres in Prospect this morning.

Guilford Ave resident Adarsh Surshkumar was out the front of his house when the crash happened about 1.20am, and saw a Harley Davidson bike hit a ditch at the intersection of Guilford Ave and Maud Street.

“We have a dip in front of our house … I guess they didn’t see the dip and crash landed,” Mr Surshkumar said.

“It (the motorbike) was airborne for sometime, I thought they were going to crash into our car.”

He said the bike was airborne for about 10 metres, heading west on Guilford Ave, before the pillion passenger, a 21-year-old Clearview man, fell off the bike. The rider, a 20-year-old Burnside man, did not come off the bike for another 20 metres.

“I didn’t know what to do so I called Triple-0.”

An off duty paramedic who lives on the street came to the aid of the men before Medstar and police arrived.

“I was trying to communicate with them … but they were just heavy breathing,” Mr Surshkumar said.

“I can’t explain it … it was so sad.”

Both patients were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.

Mr Surshkumar said when people are unaware of the dip in the road it becomes dangerous.

“Maybe they (the council) should do something about it.”

Another witness, John Kukula, heard the crash while he was watching TV.

“I just heard a bike screeching down the road … and two guys were lying on the road,” Mr Kukula said.

“They were just lying there moaning.”

The passenger did not appear to be wearing a helmet, he said.

“I feel sorry for them (the families involved), I think they’d be devastated.”

Major Crash Investigators examined the scene for sometime and reopened Guilford Ave about 9am.
