Eastern brown snake catches Telstra workers by surprise

Workers on a northern suburbs property had a fright after discovering an extremely venomous snake hibernating. See the video.

Telstra workers received a shock when they discovered a long eastern brown snake on a property north of Adelaide this week.

Snake catchers Barossa Reptile Service shared footage to social media showing the removal of a snake that was believed to be hibernating inside a Telstra pit on a Lewiston property.

“He would have been nice and snug in here with the cooler weather,” they wrote in the post.

“Luckily we found him in very nice habitat nearby where he will be more welcomed.”

The footage shows the snake catcher appearing to struggle removing the reptile from its secret hide-out – requiring two tools to pull it out before it was placed inside a secure bag.

Speaking in the video, the Barossa Reptile Service employee said he had made the snake “grumpy enough that he doesn’t want to come out”.

“Very, very cold brown snake,” he said.

“This sort of sizes are very fun when they’re hot.”
