Adelaide weather: South Australia bracing for major March heatwave

The weather is heating up in South Australia, with Adelaide expected to remain in the high 30s for the long weekend, while major rural centres will tip over 40C for up to seven days in a row.
A top of 34C is predicted for the city on Wednesday as the morning cloud cover parts – and the hot weather is expected to stay around for the Adelaide Cup weekend.
On Thursday, Adelaide is set for a top of 33C before a top of 36C on Friday, 39C on Saturday and 36 for both Sunday and Monday to round out the long weekend.
However, it’s in the rural centres that South Aussies will feel the heat the most.
Locations in the state’s north including Roxby Downs and Oodnadatta are expected to reach over 40C on Wednesday with predicted highs to stay above 40C for seven days, right through until Tuesday next week.
Renmark, in the Riverland, is set to hit 41C on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, while Murraylands’ centre Murray Bridge is predicted to hit a maximum of 43C on Saturday and 37C for Sunday and Monday.
Port Augusta is set for six days with predicted tops above 37C, with Saturday and Sunday forecast to hit 41C and 42C for Monday.
In the state’s South-East, Mount Gambier will rise to 32C on Friday before reaching over 40C on Saturday.
