2.8-magnitude earthquake shakes Adelaide
The tremor was felt at a depth of 10km earlier this evening - with thousands of residents reporting that the ground was shaking.
An earthquake has shaken Adelaide this evening, with thousands of residents reporting a tremor shortly after 7pm.
The 2.8-magnitude quake was detected at a depth of 10km at Mount Barker, to the east of the city.
More than 2,100 people reported the earthquake to Geoscience Australia, with experts predicting more tremors over the next few days.
One local said the quake “sounded like a thunderstorm but the house shook”.

Jonathan Bathgate from Geoscience Australia told The Advertiser that the quake was felt in the south east of Adelaide.
He added that this area of South Australia is one of the “more active” parts of the country.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if we get more earthquakes over the next few days and weeks,” he said.
