Queensland apartment rental listing called out for insane bathroom
An eye-boggling detail in a Queensland one-bedroom apartment listed for rent has attracted attention online for all the wrong reasons.
An insane detail in a Queensland property’s online listing has sparked a massive reaction online after drawing the attention of an eagle-eyed rental seeker.
The unusual feature was spotted by a Reddit user while flicking through photos attached to the listing of a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Toowong, Brisbane.
While photos of the kitchen, living area and bedroom were more or less what you would expect for $295 per week, the bathroom was a different story.
The long, narrow room appeared to be only about one metre in width, and its layout was even more puzzling.
The toilet was pressed against the far wall, the sink just in front of it, and the shower head was on the other side, closest to the entry.
An image of the peculiar room, which wouldn’t be more than three metres in length, was shared to Reddit on Thursday, where it has since been mercilessly mocked.
The person who discovered the scene uploaded the photo with no more than the simple comment, “bruh”.
Among hundreds of respondents were many who remarked they were equally impressed and dumbfounded at how the room had been designed.
“When you can sh*t, shave and shower at the same time,” the top comment read.
“Shaving while you sh*t sounds pretty luxurious to be honest,” someone replied.
“On the plus side, I can take a shower while I sh*t. Live smarter, not harder,” another said.
Others pointed out it was a depressing side effect of the current housing crisis unfolding across Queensland.
One joked the room should be renamed the “shoilet”, while another likened the display to a Copenhagen bathroom – a European design that squeezes a sink, shower and toilet into a tiny space.
“They’re actually great for hangovers. Sh*t and shower simultaneously. They became a popular way of retrofitting aged apartment buildings that initially had shared facilities in the basement or an outhouse,” they wrote.
The agent behind the listing, Henryk Pajaczkowski from Positions Property Services, said the photo – which has since been removed from the listing – was shared to Reddit by someone “with too much time on their hands”.
“It was the original photo of the bathroom we were given. We’ve had to take it down,” Mr Pajaczkowski told news.com.au.
He claimed the photo was not actually an accurate representation of the bathroom, which he argued was a lot more spacious than it seemed.
“It was taken at a bad angle, an angle that makes the space look really small,” he said.
Mr Pajaczkowski dismissed accusations the bathroom was so small it was barely functional, arguing it was simply the photo that made it look bad.
He claimed there had been plenty of interest in the property, and he had arranged for an inspection on Tuesday to register legitimate interest.
Another photo was expected to be taken of the bathroom and uploaded to the apartment’s listing, he said.
Criticism of the apartment was “not worth wasting time talking about”, he added.
