An apartment featuring its own glass bathroom in the middle of the kitchen has been listed for $400 per week — and nobody can quite believe it.

“Just bring your clothes and move into this gorgeous property in the heart of prestigious North Adelaide,” the listing says.

The 25 sqm apartment is one of seven units up for rent at 4/201 O‘Connell Street, in the inner-city suburb of North Adelaide.

It features amenities like a kitchen without a stove, a fridge that could be confused for a dishwasher, a bathroom adjacent to the kitchen, and no laundry.

All this could be yours for $400-$420 per week.

According to a local realtor, the listing is “relatively cheaper” than what’s currently on offer in Adelaide as it includes all electricity, gas and water.

“It was converted from an Airbnb to help people struggling to get into Adelaide‘s rental market,” Real estate agent Rachel Lawrie told the ABC.

“We‘ve just successfully helped someone get a new property after living in number 4 for four months … and now they’ve moved into a fantastic home for 12 months.”

Ms Lawrie said the listing met all relevant building code specifications to be put up for rent.

“For someone to have a dig at us is really frustrating,” she said.

“All of the people applying for it have to see it in person, they are aware there‘s no cooking facilities.

“The glass is frosted and tempered. Everything is to code.”

There are seven apartments in the building and Ms Lawrie said she had helped three previous tenants move out with excellent references to re-lease elsewhere.

She said there had been huge interest in the studio apartments, which were fully compliant with all council requirements.

The property was expected to be tenanted by the end of the week.

“These units are ideal for short term stays in an outstanding location,” Ms Lawrie told The Advertiser.

“We wouldn’t let anyone into the home unless they’ve seen it and they know what they’re agreeing to.”

Similarly priced properties in the area provide a little more privacy than the loo-lover’s paradise, with a $325p/w studio apartment on Gover Street offering a solid wall between the bathroom and kitchen.

On Melbourne Street, prospective tenants can snap themselves up an extra bedroom and an oven for $390p/w.

A short drive away in Klemzig, renters could spend the same on a suburban three-bedroom home.

The bizarre rental echoed a Sydney studio listing in 2020 which had similar features, offering tenants a room with a view.

The apartment on Bourke St in Surry Hills seamlessly blended the shower and toilet with the kitchen.

Recently renovated, the studio has done away with bathroom walls and instead opens the space up with glass.

The furnished studio had a $380 per week asking price and also featured a double bed and lounge area with a TV.

The bathroom has Italian tiles and frosted glass facing the kitchen.
